Q: Can Vanguard take over my present drivers?
A: Yes, Vanguard will work with new clients to take over all DOT qualified drivers and other personnel positions desired at start up.
Q: Can Vanguard provide dispatchers, clerks, warehousemen and other positions?
A: Yes, approximately 97 percent of Vanguard's employees are Tractor-Trailer Drivers but we provide several on-site Dispatchers and other personnel for current customers throughout the country. We have the ability to tailor our services, personnel and rates based on the needs of our clients.
Q: How many safety meetings does Vanguard hold each year for a customer?
A: As a rule, Vanguard holds 2 safety meetings a year per client, however, some clients require more based on the specific needs of the operation.
Q: Does Vanguard provide a casual driver?
A: Yes, several current clients have on-site dedicated casual drivers who are provided benefits and work regularly for those clients on a fill-in and extra need basis. Other clients that require casual drivers for fill-in or extra work will be provided with a driver based on availability of manpower. It is difficult for Vanguard to guarantee a casual driver but it is possible to guarantee that we will give our best effort to do so. Where available, CrossStone may be the answer for on-demand or seasonal drivers.
Q: Does Vanguard handle the drug and alcohol tests? MVR's? Annual Reviews? Log Audits? Physicals?
A: Yes, Vanguard maintains all necessary DOT documents for the driver qualification file. We administer the drug and alcohol program for drivers and isolated dock workers as well as some office personnel. Our area offices review MVR's biannually and complete all annual reviews with accompanying congratulations or discipline. Our safety department audits driver logs for several customers as well as reviews and maintains the DOT and non-DOT physicals.
Q: Does Vanguard have an employee handbook?
A: Yes, Vanguard provides each employee with a detailed employee handbook that covers several areas including company wide policies and procedures, pay and benefit information, specific assignment rules, regulations and important contact information such as addresses and emergency phone numbers.
Q: Who maintains the driver qualification files?
A: Vanguard originates and maintains the DOT qualification files as well as the personnel file information for the driver. Clients are supplied with a copy of the qualification file and this file is continually updated through periodic correspondence. Clients also may opt for on-line viewing of the files in lieu of receiving the hard document.
Q: How is the driver payroll handled? Does Vanguard pay the employee weekly, bi-weekly or monthly?
A: For most operations, Vanguard supplies the client with easy to use forms for driver payroll totals. This form is tailored to specific assignment pay schedule by number of hours, miles, deliveries or whatever the compensation may be. The client assists in collecting this information and forwards it to Vanguard's payroll department every week. The driver is paid from this information weekly.
