Our History
Vanguard Services, Inc. was founded in 1958 with its corporate headquarters located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Vanguard's principal business since 1958 has been that of leasing over-the-road truck drivers to major corporations nationwide.
The company has grown from one office location with just a handful of employees to a nationwide full service corporation with offices located in several key regions throughout the United States.
Being in business spanning six decades has given Vanguard a rich history.

- 1958
August 25, Indiana Stevedoring, Inc. formed by Mr. Ronald Renner, Ms. Margaret Masse to "engage in the business of furnishing labor and the services of labor" and "to hire workers and contract for services."
- 1962
June 26, Indiana Stevedoring, Inc. sold to Robert D. Malarney
- 1966
Company establishes its presence in the southeast with an office in Atlanta that later moved to Greenville, South Carolina in 1977
- 1973
Corporate name change to Pacemaker Driver Service, Inc.
- 1978
Dixie Driver Service merged into Pacemaker Driver Service, Inc. Southwestern Professional Truck Driver Services, Inc. merged into Pacemaker Driver Service, Inc.
- 1980
Southwest area office opens in Arlington, Texas, and Northeast area office opens in the Philadelphia area later that same year
- 1981
Separate area office opens in Indianapolis
- 1984
Pacemaker Services Group, Inc., formed.
- 1986
Pacemaker Driver Service, Inc. merges into Pacemaker Services Group, Inc.
- 1988
Vanguard Services, Inc. Incorporated by James W. Malarney and Ronald D. Creager.
- 1989
Vanguard Services, Inc. assumes administration of services to Pacemaker clients.
- 1991
Drivers Incorporated purchased by Vanguard Services, Inc.
- 1993
Vanguard Training Services (Driver Training School) Division of Vanguard Services, Inc began operation. V.O. Freight Services, Inc., a for-hire carrier owned by Vanguard started.
- 1996
Pacemaker Services Group, Inc. merges into Vanguard Services, Inc.
- 2003
Vanguard Services, (Canada), Inc. Incorporated and begins business as Vanguard's international business unit. In April Nashville office begins operation.
- 2004
CrossStone, LLC., (On-demand driver staffing) incorporated by Michael R. Malarney and John M. Creager
- 2006
Vanguard purchases CrossStone, LLC.
